Recent movements with the ATP and DEFRA addressing the pressing challenge from farmers, from the increasingly high prices, has seen the demand for new schemes to be introduced. This has come with the news released yesterday on the Farming Transformation Fund re opening, previously launched in November, which included the Farming Equipment and Technology fund and the Water Management scheme. In January we saw the Improving Farm Productivity theme being added, which Adding Value is set to be released in June.
The Adding Value theme, which the manual was released yesterday has funding available of £30 million, which will focus on supporting farmers and growers to process, diversify and add value to their products after they have been harvested or reared.
Funding will be available between £25,000 and £300,000 of which is allocated to fund 40% of eligible project costs and are available to growers and producers of agricultural products or businesses processing agricultural or horticultural products (50% of the business must be agricultural or horticultural producers).
Examples of eligible items:
It is to note that you can apply for more than one theme under the Farming Transformation Fund when the application window opens. To check if you are eligible, the online checker will become available later this month which will help farmers and landowners understand if they meet the criteria of this funding on offer and whether you will be asked to submit a full application, which will required to be done by 31st January 2024 (if planning permission is required).
