With the 2020 Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) application window now open, Roger Parry and Partners are urging farmers in both England and Wales to get in contact with one of their expert land management professionals to complete this year’s form as soon as possible.
Completion of the form ensures access to farm support under the BPS in both England and Wales and agri-environment schemes in Wales.
In 2019 Roger Parry and Partners helped over 500 farmers fill in their application forms, including many complex cross-border farmers dealing with Rural Payments Wales (RPW) and the Rural Payments Agency England.
Clare Williams, Associate with Roger Parry and Partners said, “BPS payments cannot be secured without submitting an application form, so this is one of the most crucial forms farmers will complete. Our professionals have extensive experience in filling in BPS application forms and will ensure that sufficient time and care is taken to guarantee its accuracy. We have also been specifically selected for our specialist knowledge, expertise and reputation as a NFU and NFU Cymru panel firm so members of the Union will also benefit from a discounted rate.
“It is important to maximise your application by ensuring you are claiming on all eligible land and hold enough entitlements to match. Also make sure you sell any spare entitlements before they expire. There are still unknowns about future subsides but maximising your claim this year may prove to be beneficial in the future.”
To ensure that farmers do not incur a financial penalty the deadline for submitting their BPS application form and supporting documents is midnight on Friday, 15 May 2020. Any applications and documents submitted after 16 May, up to 9 June 2020, will receive late claim penalties.
Clare said, “If you are new to the Basic Payment Scheme and wonder what it’s all about, are not sure if you’re eligible for the Young Farmer Payment, or want to ensure you’re maximising the full potential of your ground, call us for a no obligation chat about whether you and your land are eligible for the BPS payment.”
