High price achieved at farmland auction

27th March 2017

Strong interest from local farmers continues to push up farmland prices, with over £9,000 per acre achieved at a recent auction in Oswestry.

The auction, managed by Roger Parry & Partners, at the Wynnstay Hotel, Oswestry, on 22 March saw a total of 20 acres of permanent pasture in Craigllwyn, Selayttyn, near Oswestry, sell well in excess of the asking price, achieving over £9,000.00 per acre.

RICS Rural Spokesman in Wales and Partner at Roger Parry & Partners LLP, Richard Corbett, said: “We had anticipated strong interest from local farmers and once again the results of these recent land sales prove that with correct method of sale and a realistic asking price that the land market is still buoyant despite the doom and gloom of Brexit.

“Roger Parry & Partners are delighted with the results of our successful land auction. This has completed a great week for the office, with over three land deals sold by private treaty and two of them for well over the asking price.”
