Buccleuch Estates Prize

27th October 2016

We were pleased to see one of our previous Harper Adams University Student Placements winning the REALM Best Placement Student of the Year award, the coveted Buccleuch Estates Prize.

Beth Hanson from Herefordshire completed her placement year at our Minsterley office working with Roger Parry and was a valued member of the team. The experience we gave her varied; from valuations, compulsory purchase schemes and in-depth SPS/BPS projects, to machinery sales and extensive planning consultancy work.

Each year we employ at least 2 placement students from Harper Adams University Rural Enterprise and Land Management (REALM) Course and like to see each student increase their confidence and knowledge whilst working in real-life situations. We also aid their progression through the Assessment of Professional Competence which will eventually lead to them becoming Chartered Surveyors under the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. After completing their year with us, the students return to Harper Adams University to finish their final year of study before graduating.

Carrie De Silva, principal lecturer, said: “Beth completed a very successful placement year with Roger Parry & Co. in Shropshire. She graduated this year with a first-class honours BSc Rural Enterprise and Land Management degree.”

This year we’ve employed Emily Fortune from Yorkshire who works with Tudor, Clare and Gerallt in Welshpool, and Zoe Davies from Herefordshire who works with Roger, Paul and Peter in Minsterley.
