Associate wins place on Welsh Government's Business & Innovation Programme

Roger Parry & Partners’ Associate, Clare Williams, has beaten off competition to win a place on the Welsh Government’s Business & Innovation Programme 2019.

The Farming Connect Agri Academy Business and Innovation Programme aims to improve understanding of the matters that affect the success of the participants’ business, increase awareness of opportunities and threats that face their business in the future as well as support their personal development through workshops and seminars. It will also offer opportunities to meet industry experts and business leaders.

Clare, who manages Roger Parry & Partners office in Llanidloes, was successful in gaining one of just 12 positions available on the programme. As one of the firm’s Rural Surveyors she advises farmers on available grants, subsidies and dealing with claims and any issues which arise in both Wales and England alongside her valuation role.

On gaining a place on the programme, Clare said, “I had heard great things about Farming Connect’s Agri Academy and was keen to win a position. I was delighted to have been chosen for one of the 12 positions considering there were 30 applications. I am certain that the people I meet and the new skills I gain through the Business & Innovation programme will be advantageous to those I advise on farming matters with Roger Parry & Partners and at home on the farm with my husband.”

The Business & Innovation Programme includes a session in September about understanding your supply chain; there is an overseas study tour to the Netherlands in October; a session to learn more about how to build your business in November and an Agri Academy Ceremony at the Royal Welsh Winter Fair.

Clare studied Rural Enterprise and Land Management at Harper Adams University and went on to obtain chartered status with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and was subsequently made a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV). She also helps run the family farm business with her husband, working with the sheep and rearing pheasants.

Roger Parry, Senior Partner with the firm said, “We are very proud of Clare’s achievements. She works hard at every challenge she is given, both in work and on her home farm. I am sure the programme will not only help Clare on a personal level but also when she advises her clients with their farming businesses.”
