We are encouraging those who are considering applying for planning in England to act fast as delays in Parliamentary approval mean the legislation to increase fees by 20 per cent will not come into force until the New Year.

Currently there is no fixed date for the changes to the fees to take effect. The draft legislation, which calls for the 20% increase to fees, was laid before Parliament in October but according to the ‘Town and Country Planning Act’ any fee amendments have to be approved by both houses of Parliament before they become ‘made. At present the proposed changes have not been listed on the House of Commons order of business.
