Rabbit Warren and Owl Hollow- Hobbit Houses

In the current climate of staycations being more and more popular, and Llansantffraid being an idyllic area, with access to many other tourist attractions a short distance away. David and Claire Francis, a local family, having a small holding first approached Roger Parry and Partners after looking at ways they could diversify into something that would help encourage and allow their children to remain in the area where they were born and love. Originally talking about shepherds huts, but with the proposed site being the brow of the hill, this concerned them both on the visual impact this may cause to everyone in the community

David and Claire said, “after chatting with Richard Corbett, Partner at Roger Parry and Partners and Lyndsey Fisher, they suggested looking into underground pods which had low visual impact, were energy efficient and could be inhabited 12 month of the year and that is when we started our journey”.

“We appointed Roger Parry and Partners to start the planning application process, and thanks to their knowledge, help and experience, two years later we are about to embark on our Holiday Let venture. We are now ready to welcome guests to come and enjoy our Hobbit home, comfort, style and the magnificent views that they offer in beautiful Mid-Wales”.

David and Claire added “the hobbit houses have been a true family project, with their 3 children, Danielle, Samantha & Jack and Son-in-Law Wyn also all playing a huge part in the vision, construction, groundworks, landscaping, tree, shrub and hedge planting as well as the interior design and dressing of the hobbit houses. We hope that our new venture is a huge success and in the future we will be able to pass it on to our children and then on to the newest addition in our family, Max our first grandchild.
