Welsh dairy farmers should apply urgently for EU conditional aid scheme

25th June 2017

Roger Parry & Partners are reminding Welsh dairy farmers that applications for the EU Conditional Aid Scheme for milk producers will close at midnight on 30 June 2017.

To qualify for a payment of £1,800 per business, which will be made by the end of September this year, producers will need to collate and submit their farm’s data to AHDB Dairy for the preparation of a benchmarking report in the autumn.

Richard Corbett, a Partner at Roger Parry & Partners said, “We are urging dairy producers across Wales to apply urgently to ensure they get their share of this funding given the deadline is the 30 June. As always we are on hand to help with the application process if anyone feels they need our assistance. Gail Lewis in our Carmarthenshire office is on-hand to help our clients in the prime dairy production area of south west Wales.

“Assurances have been given of anonymity for those sending in their data and AHDB and Government will only publish collated date for comparative purposes. Farmers participating in the scheme should receive a report identifying their business’ strengths and any weaknesses with a comparison against industry performance indicators.”

The scheme is only open to dairy farmers in Wales. Eligible farms are those that were in milk production with supply contract on 1 January 2016.

Farm businesses can submit their data if they have left the industry after this date but businesses that began production after this date are not eligible. Only one payment will be made for each farm business, (each CRN) even if the business has more than one dairy herd.

Farms with land outside Wales can participate in the scheme if the majority of their land is in Wales.
