>Roger Parry & Partners are urging rural food and tourism businesses, or farmers considering diversifying into food processing or tourism, to apply for new Rural Development Programme England (RDPE) grant funding.
>A total of £3.5 million is on offer for rural tourism infrastructure, food processing and / or business development through the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), which is part of the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF). Grants from £35,000 to £17,000 are available to small businesses and farmers who want to diversify into tourism, develop food and drink outlets or develop tourist attractions.
>Richard Corbett, Partner at Roger Parry & Partners said, “The application process is competitive. This means the Rural Payments Agency (RPA) will not automatically award everyone that applies for the funding. The RPA will assess all expressions of interest to see which best meet the criteria and then invite eligible applicants to apply. As always, we are here to help with understanding the application process and ensuring your application stands out in the competitive crowd. If you need our assistance please call one of our offices and we’ll arrange an appointment.”
>Richard adds, “Anyone concerned about the funding disappearing once we have left the European Union can be reassured that the government has confirmed it will guarantee funding for RDPE Growth Programme grants if these are agreed and signed before the UK’s departure from the EU, even if the grant agreements continue after we have left the EU, subject to projects meeting the following conditions: they are good value for money and they are in line with domestic strategic priorities.”
>Expressions of Interest have to be submitted by midnight on 31 January 2018. To book your appointment please call one of our offices. Oswestry: 01691 655334, Shrewsbury: 01743 343343, Minsterley: 01743 791336, Welshpool: 01938 554499.
